ASM at the Productronica India
Technology partner for the Integrated Smart SMT Factory
Munich, Germany – August 23, 2019. ASM Assembly Systems’ booth at the Productronica trade show in New Delhi (September 25-27, 2019, Hall 15, Booth PE01) will focus on the key central workflows in the Integrated Smart SMT Factory. The company’s powerful, integrated hardware and software systems enable electronics manufacturers to achieve massive improvements in flexibility, quality and productivity in areas ranging from planning and virtual production to process optimization, preparation and production to material management, factory monitoring and factory integration. An SMT line with two variants of the new SIPLACE TX high-end modules will demonstrate the assembly of super- small 0201m components, and the printing process on this line will be controlled and optimized with the ASM ProcessExpert, the world’s first self-learning inline expert system for electronics production. Another live presentation of operator guidance software will demonstrate how more lines can be supported with significantly fewer people. At the booth of ASM partner MAXIM, small and medium-sized electronics manufacturers will be able to see the new E-Solutions line, whose printing and placement hardware and software capabilities set new standards for the midspeed segment as well as for prototype and small-lot production. With these and other innovations, its tight service and support network and its long presence in India, ASM underlines the importance that the manufacturer attached to the Indian electronics industry.
“India is not only an important future market for ASM, but an important location for manufacturing sites. At the Productronica India we will demonstrate how far our capable and innovative solutions have already taken us on the road to the Integrated Smart SMT Factory. The intelligent optimization and automation of workflows harbors huge potential for Indian electronics manufacturers to massively improve their quality, productivity and delivery reliability,” says Vasanth Kumar, ASM´s General Manager India. “I am extremely proud on the power and performance of the ASM Team in India and very grateful for the support we are getting from ASM´s global technology network. Thus, we can offer our customers in India “the best of two worlds”: They get the most knowledgeable local support in India and can clearly benefit from ASM´s global experience and technology. This is highly valued by our local customers as well as by the many multinationals moving from abroad”.
The Workflows of the Integrated Smart Factory Visitors can experience what ASM understands by “The Integrated Smart Factory” and what central workflows are key and how they can be automated and optimized. ASM combines and integrates various hardware and software solutions for this purpose. For example, the ASM Production Planner enables deadline-oriented multi-line planning. Based on order data and placement programs, the system automatically generates a plan for sequencing, combining and assigning setups to the respective lines. Line performance and restrictions, shift schedules and maintenance times – everything is automatically considered, and planners and operators can track the job progress and upcoming setups on monitors.
‘Smart operator’: Skill-based operator guidance
In live demonstrations, ASM will show how intelligent operator guidance can lower costs by reducing the number of people on the line. The software collects messages from the machines on all lines to visualize and prioritize the required assists. It coordinates and distributes the operator requests via smartwatches, handheld devices or tablets. If necessary, it provides additional information such as manuals, videos or explanations of error messages. The software even takes the individual operators’ skills into account. That way, more experienced employees are freed from routine tasks such as splicing, etc., and assigned to more complex assists. The software also allows machine settings or similar assists to be performed remotely, which saves even more time and money.
Besides planning- and production-oriented workflows, ASM will show solutions for virtual production, process optimization, preparation, material management, factory monitoring, and factory integration. All the solutions can be implemented individually and in stages wherever the electronics manufacturer sees the greatest potential for making improvements.
Assembly of super-small 0201m components
The “Placing the World’s Smallest Components” presentation will demonstrate the assembly of 0201m components on a line equipped with SIPLACE TX high-speed modules at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM each day. The associated high-precision stencil printing process will be controlled and optimized via the ASM ProcessExpert, which combines the the most modern and powerful inline SPI system on the market, the 5D ASM ProcessLens, with the self-learning ASM ProcessEngine expert system to control the printer and keep the entire printing process within the process window without any outside intervention.
ASM offers a special service to electronics manufacturers from China and other regions who want to establish manufacturing sites in India. The program provides contacts and support for finding locations and people and building the manufacturing facility.
