The Hermes Standard

The global standard for "M2M" in SMT assembly

The Hermes Standard (IPC-HERMES-9852) for vendor-independent machine-to-machine communication in SMT assembly takes board flow data management in SMT assembly lines to the next level.

The open, non-proprietary standard was initiated and developed by a group of leading equipment suppliers to enable more advanced process integration.

The Hermes Standard replaces the IPC SMEMA 9851 standard: The Hermes Standard does not just make traditional functions much easier and less costly, it also adds unprecedented new capabilities and options.

Being able to connect all elements in an electronics assembly line, The Hermes Standard defines a new backbone for board flow data management in smart factories.
